New for 2024! All alumni are invited to rekindle cherished Chapel memories at Punahou School’s Alumni Week Chapel and President’s Welcome. Nostalgia takes center stage with your favorite hymns, songs and scripture, as well as inspirational messages from Punahou’s chaplains. Following the service, President Mike Latham ’86 will welcome alumni and share updates on key initiatives and campus construction.

The Kamaola Voyaging Experience

Learn about Punahou’s new voyaging program through a firsthand experience on Kamaola, the School’s new wa‘a kaulua (double-hulled sailing canoe). Engage with the Voyaging Club student leadership, hear how traditional voyagers prepare for a journey, experience a star-filled night sky using virtual reality and, weather permitting, enjoy a 45-minute sail in nearshore waters. Experience led by: Voyaging Faculty Kaniela Lyman-Mersereau ’05, Director of Design Technology and Engineering Taryn Loveman and Punahou Archivist Kylee Mar.

Enjoy spending time in stunning Hakipu‘u Valley working either in the lo‘i or stream restoration. Bus departs from Punahou School’s Palm Drive at 8 a.m. and returns at noon. All participants must ride the chartered bus.

Join Punahou Outdoor Education teachers Shelby Ho ’01 and Andy Nelson at Pu‘uomānoa (Rocky Hill). Help eradicate invasive species, propagate native plants, engage in various projects, and enjoy the outdoor space and scenery at one of the most important parts of our campus! (Plus the view of campus is just spectacular from up on top.)

Hula Workshop with Kumu Hula Lauren Kanoelani Chang ’01 Williams

This hula workshop will provide opportunities for alumni to reconnect to the people and history of Kapunahou. Learn to hula, sing and play ʻukulele chords for a mele by Mary Kawena Pukui and Irmgard Farden Aluli, “Ka Lei o Punahou,” honoring Laura Pratt (1921) Bowers. Lauren Kanoelani Chang ’01 Williams, kumu hula, alumna and current Punahou faculty member, will share this favorite hula of the Punahou Alumni Glee Club.

Traditional Hawaiian Lei Making with Mary Moriarty ’93

Join award-winning lei maker Mary Moriarty ’93 of Hele Mele Botanicals for a lei making class. She’ll show you examples of traditional Hawaiian lei making and then teach the wili method to make a beautiful lei po‘o (head lei). This is 60 minutes of instructional time with an additional 30 minutes of optional time to sit and make lei among friends.
Includes supplies.
