Mike Woodward had some interesting pictures posted on his facebook page that caught my attention. Filed in an album called “Campus Kids,” they showed a small kid time birthday party
that appeared to be attended by several of our 1974 classmates. I had to contact Mike to learn more about the story behind the photos.
As reported below, this is what he told me. Mike wrote:
These are some of the pictures from my 7th birthday party on Barwick playground, next to the Winnie Units and my house. Looking at them it seems like just about all the boys from the 2nd grade came, plus others.
It was my biggest birthday ever, I’m sure, with piles of presents. Striped shirts were definitely in vogue!
The best picture is probably where I am holding a toy rifle. It’s a present that all us boys are thrilled with (but not my mom, I’m sure, because she was against even toy guns). The rifle looks pretty real, with no orange tip as is now required.
Always the late bloomer, my two front teeth still haven’t come in while my friends all have their new ones.
Thanks, Mom, for throwing me a party and for taking such great pictures!
